Osama bin Laden is dead – says Obama

US claims that they have killed Osama bin Laden yesterday on sunday, 1st May 2011, in a firefight with U.S forces in Pakistan’s frontier province.

U.S President Barack Obama announced on sunday that their forces have killed Osama bin Laden in Abottabad region in Pakistan.

Obama said that no americans were killed in the operation to assassinate Osama bin Laden. They also tried to avoid civilian casualties (like they are avoiding them since 2001 probably).

He said:

The United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda and a terrorist who is responsible for the murder of thousands of men, women and children

Obama said. It is a major accomplishment for Obama and his national security team, after many Americans had given up hope of ever finding bin Laden and accepted him as a CIA plotted game.

A crowd gathered outside white house to celebrate the death of Osama bin Laden.

U.S officials claim that they have killed and recovered the body of Osama bin laden so that any doubters can confirm that this is Osama in real. (probably we don’t have any doubts, as US has better ways to identify it’s citizens and employees).

However, this was only possible with the support of Pakistan government in the anti terrorist activities across the region which made this possible!

Islami Jamiat Talba attacked Students of IIUI for organizing musical event

Male campus of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) went on strike on April 4, 2011 after many students being beaten by Islami Jamiat Talba on Friday.

According to IIUI sources, the Pukhtun Student Organization (PSO) organized a musical night in annual celebration of renaming of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Almost 200 students attended the cultural programme. When they returned from the event to the hostels, they were attacked by jamiat. Students were even beaten by entering in their rooms in the hostel. Almost 21 / 45  students got seriously injured.

Aftab Alam, Senior Secretary PSO said that the cultural programme was held for annual celebrating of the renaming of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the 18th amendment.

The university and iiui hostel management is silent over the issue. Police is not registering FIR too according to Aftab Alam.

Rector IIUI professor Fateh Mohammad Malik said that both parties has negotiated and the matter (of beating and severely injuring university students by Jamiat) has been settled and strike has been called off.

Rector IIUI said that outside elements were involved in provoking the students for this issue, which is also pressurizing the university and hostel staff for not taking action against them. The extend of this outside element can be measured from the fact that they control the Police of the Capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, and they aren’t registering any FIR against them. Also, many workers of this outside element are living in IIUI hostels, as this event took place in the university hostels at night.

Patients suffer as government continues to ignore Doctor’s strike

Young doctors are on strike for 34 days now at various hospitals of Lahore and other cities of punjab including Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The government is not giving importance to this strike and that is why the patients are facing many problems in in-door and emergency wards of various hospitals (Mayo, Services, Ganga Ram, Children, Lahore General and Jinnah hospital in lahore and PIMS in Islamabad)

Government, in an attempt to crush the strike appointed 35 new doctors to services hospital Lahore and is threatening the doctors on strike to be sent home, instead of listening to their demands and working it out. Government has bought politics in the field of health too!

Adnan Khan Afridi – head of Tehreek-e-taliban (khyber agency) Pakistan pronounced dead

Various news channels of Pakistan (confirmed on PTV and Express News) reported today that the head of the tahreek-e-taliban Pakistan had been shot dead today.

The news said:

  • Adnan Khan afridi was the head of Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan
  • Had 20 lac on his head
  • he was shot in head
  • by unknown people
  • in rawalpindi
  • his body is kept in DHQ hospital

According to sources he was captured in 2004 by Army after he accepted the attacks on Musharraf and was kept held in Jhang police station and was to be released coming week.

No one can ever be sure about whats going on in any situation, but according to my humble analysis:

  • If he was killed for money, then why did the shooter left him there?
  • if he was in multan police station, then how did he reach rawalpindi?
  • could it be just a planned encounter to eliminate him?
  • why wasn’t he eliminated in last 8 years? (he was caught in 2002) and killed when he was about to be released?
  • was he killed before release (by security forces) or after release (by his fellow seniors of tahreek e taliban – to avoid competition) ?

The situation is confusing though! let’s see what comes out of it (or if nothing comes out!)

Update:

He was caught on 12 feburary 2004 for giving shelter to Moroccan national, Abdul Rahman. The raid took place in the village of Mir Khankhel in Jamrud, 25 kilometers northwest of Peshawar, an area dominated by Afridi Pashtun tribesmen.

He was suspected to be member of alqaeda

Main nahi manta by Habib Jalib – lyrics and video + audio

Habib Jalib, a wonderful poet, his poem “main nahi maanta” gave words to the feelings of million of crushed people not only in Pakistan but anywhere in the world.

Here are the lyrics to the video and the video itself is embedded at the end of this post.

woh jo saay mai har masliyat ke palay – aisay dastoor ko, subh-e-benoor ko
mai nhi maanta, mai nhi jaanta – mai nhi maanta, mai nhi jaanta

haq baat pe kooray aor zindan – batil ke shikanjay main hai jaan
insaan hain ke sehmay baithay hain – khoonkhaar darinday hain raksaan
is zulm-sitam ko lutf-o-karm – is dukh ko dawa kia likhna!

har shaam yahan, shaame-e-veraan – asaib zada rastay galiyan
jis shehar ki dhun mai niklay thay – woh shehar dilay barbaad kahan
sehra ko chaman, pan* ko gulshan, badal ko rida kia likhna

ae meray watan ke fankaro – zulmat pe na apna fun waroo
yeh mehsaron ke baasi – qatil hain hamaray sabhi yaroo
virsay mai hamai, yeh gham hai mila, is gham ko naya kia likhana!

zulmat ko zia, sansar ko saba, banday ko khuda ki likhna!

Love the attitude of Pakistan army at US airport

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) informed that the delegation of Pakistan Army has been called back to the country after they were mishandled on the US airport.

The delegation comprising of Pakistan Army officials was invited to Central Command meeting in US where the delegation announed calling off visit after their arrival at washington airport. The reason being that the US security officials misbehaved with the Pakistan Army officials

US Defense department has strongly regretted over the incident.

Honestly speaking, I liked the decision of canceling the visit by Pakistan Army over this incident.

Jamiet-ulmai-islam leaders killing people to save their property from flood

ARY and GEO news reported the incident that when flood water reached near sherkot, Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan and the road was supposed to be cut to save the area from being flooded and reduce the affect of water.

When water reached sherkot city, they didn’t allow the road near their madarsa and lands causing more flood and affect to general population over there.

The Jamiet-ulmai-islam leaders, Maulana fazal ur rehman, Ata ur rehman, Lutf ur rehman who were present there were informed about this issue and were requested to let the road be cut, but they refused just to save their property in the area.

This is nothing new infact, all the politicians and powerful persons of all parties are trying to save their own lands and killing and affecting helpless people by using their influences (e.g maulana fazal ur rehman, zakarani, khurshid shah, etc)

Edit: Changed the name from Jamiat-e-Tuleba to Jamei-ulmai-Islam (edited by Rizwan)

Number of Railway engines in Pakistan

Total number of railway engines in Pakistan is almost 500

Out of these only 100 are in working condition.

Out of the 100 working ones, almost 40 are the ones which are in constant availability and rest are usually off track and under maintenance.

Pakistan needs only 320 railway engines to make it’s system efficiently.

Pakistan must rethink relations with Britain.

David cameron’s recent comments about Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan are disturbing as well as irresponsible. Underrating the efforts and sacrifices of Pakistan in global Anti-terror cause is certainly not an encouragement from a ‘friend’.

We have seen such comments from U.S officials lately but when they have abandoned such attempts, then Britain now plays the bad cop. When the occupying forces now seek the ways of withdrawal from Afghanistan with viable settlement, such diplomatic attacks will do no good to this effort. A settlement with taliban now seems out of question in present circumstances when Pakistan is being blamed shamelessly despite its sacrifices.

Should Zardari Postpone his visit to Britain?

Asif Zardari’s planned visit to Britain is now in the focus, well not for any good reasons. British premiere’s recent remarks about ISI and Pakistan’s anti-terror efforts have made Pakistani intelligentia to think about Britain’s status as a friend. And reports say British PM has refused to apologise. If he wants his foreign policy to be so childish and rumor based then Pakistan should rethink about its relations with Britain. Pakistan is the victim of terror itself with hundreds of terror attacks and thousands of casualties in recent years which international community should respect rather than such thankless attitude. Now its upto President Zardari that how he assert himself and postpones his visit to Britain till Cameron talks in senses.
