Young doctors are on strike for 34 days now at various hospitals of Lahore and other cities of punjab including Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The government is not giving importance to this strike and that is why the patients are facing many problems in in-door and emergency wards of various hospitals (Mayo, Services, Ganga Ram, Children, Lahore General and Jinnah hospital in lahore and PIMS in Islamabad)
Government, in an attempt to crush the strike appointed 35 new doctors to services hospital Lahore and is threatening the doctors on strike to be sent home, instead of listening to their demands and working it out. Government has bought politics in the field of health too!
Yesterday two armed men entered the emergency ward of Jinnah hospital and opened fire killing many people in the ward.
Geo news report said:
At least eight people were killed when armed men stormed the emergency ward of Jinnah Hospital, Medical Superintendent said Monday.
According to Geo correspondent, two gunmen entered the emergency ward and opened indiscriminate fire, killing at least dozen people, and injuring several others.
According to Geo, three to four guards and attendants are among the dead.
The firing is still underway while police have cordoned off the area.
It may be reminded here that injured of Garhi Shahu and Model Town attacks were under treatment in the Jinnah Hospital.
Last night a doctor was found dead on the Tea cross area of sirki road in Quetta, Pakistan.
He was coming to the hospital when some armed men arrived and opened fire at him, killing him at the spot. The body was bought to the civil hospital and the case was filed.
Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s trial case sentencing has been postponed to be held later this year. It was first announced to be heard and sentenced on 6th May 2010 but later on the court changed the date for hearing.
There has been several alterations to the date of sentencing. Recently it was changed to July 21st 2010. But now Judge Berman has reset the time for the Doctor Aafia Siddiqui’s trial case sentencing to 6th August 2010.
The hearing will be held in Judge Berman’s court at 500 Peart Street in Manhattan, New York, USA.
The new date of hearing of the Dr Afia’s case can still be unstable and might change as it has been happening for last many times.
What could be the reason for the alteration of the hearing dates?
Could it be due to the pressure from the supporters of Dr. Aafia? possibly, but maybe not too.
Could it be due to legal processes, gathering more evidences etc? possible again, but if they were to keep it so legal and many other cases legal too, then it would be obvious from the initial times.
Could it be that they want to keep the public engaged in this affair until they have another one ready to distract the attention of the public in future from core issues? not only in country level in Pakistan but also internationally?
or maybe they are just waiting to see any proper clash and climax of the story before they give the decision. So that a complete setup of many years is not wasted so easily?
It could be in good faith, but as per what history tells us, it possibly could be another game from the so called owners of the world and the corrupt politicians, using people (innocent or guilty, both) for their own benefits, always.
Dr. Afia case will be in court once again on 6th of May 2010 in United States of America. This is probably the last hearing of the case in which she will either get a minimum or maximum imprisonment. The minimum punishment is 30 year of prison and maximum is 135 year.
Some of us are already aware of this fact, however many others are ill informed by the media maybe that Sania Mirza and Shoaid Malik story is more important than doctor Aafia Siddiqui case.
Once the court will pass the decision, i am sure the media and all our people will be jumping around about the decision and complaining that they did wrong bla bla . . . Who the hell are they to complain about it when they were least concerned before the hearing starts?
Our press and media is unfortunately being controlled by the same people who control the world’s media. No channel broadcasts any news that has been approved to them and sent to them by some agencies via so called crime reporters of Pakistan and other countries. I wish we can understand what’s going on around us.
Although there are many bigger issues in the world and even in the Riphah university (the university of Islamic International Medical College – Rawalpindi, Pakistan), today i will like to share my experience that i had today in the IIMC parking.
Well the parking, which looks like a shrub or lake in the rain (even day after rain ends too) is the only place to accomodate -NO, not only cars, but also almost all the male students of the university. Yes, there is no proper arrangement for the male students to spend their extra time or a common room (well it wasn’t there when i was in the university! don’t know if they updated it now). Anyway, that issue will be discussed along with other corruption issues in the trust based university, riphah international university, in later articles.
So let me show you the clip that i made from my mobile phone today while i was waiting for my friend to find the person whose car was parked behind his car (somewhere in this video). . .
The university owners simply slept. You will be more amazed when you will come to know more about the corruption and situation inside the university (maybe in later posts). Honestly speaking, in all my 5 years at university, i never saw the owner in the university! NEVER EVER. The university even got notice from PMDC (Pakistan medical and dental council) that if they can’t manage the university then either close it or sale it. But i think they used some method to get that notice fixed . . .
Oh ! what? who asked all those students to bring their cars? it’s their fault right? hmmm… point to be noticed. But don’t you think the university should have transport for the students? so that they would not bring their cars? (well atleast some of them won’t!) Yes, the university don’t have transport for local student (only for hotel students to and from the hostel pick and drop)
I am not sure how many people will criticize on my point of view, but i just felt like saying out what i noticed today. It really hurt . . . Who is responsible for this? I think me . . .so i tried to atleast say out about it. I wish they knew what Islam and being Islamic means atleast when they chose this name. They are creating Muslim Doctors?
Some will say that “that’s the situation in most of the universities in Pakistan (well atleast private universities). So don’t you think it should not be the condition in all of them? I wish we all can fix these issues in all the universities.

The women was referred from Sheikh Zaid hospital to Jinnah Hospital because of her critical situation. She was having terminal stage of cancer and her current hemoglobin was 2 (normal 16) and platelet count 5000 (normal 150,000)
The doctors tried to resuscitate the patient but she wasn’t able to make it and died
The woman’s family started protest due to emotions and media came in to take the coverage
There was mild verbal clash between doctors and the ill trained media person there (they should have trained people to cover this type of situation)
Professor Doctor Javed Akram was informed and he tried to solve the issue, but the media people left his office and called their friends and helpers to attack on those doctors who were in the emergency.
They started breaking the glasses in the emergency and a street fight broke between doctors and media persons.

Media started to blame all situation as doctors are now criminals.
So in short, lawyers, police, army and now doctors are criminals because media don’t like them being respected more than them or maybe some other reason.
